Converting a Prison Into a Sports Facility Kind of Makes Sense When You Think About It

It's called, of course, The Yard

An entrepreneur in upstate New York bought a shuttered prison for $1.7 million and within two years has converted it into a profitable athletic facility called The Yard (get it?), CNBC reports. And if the name wasn't a big enough tip-off, the conversion makes a certain amount of sense: What's the number one thing, according to prison movies, that people do in prison? Lift weights and stuff, right? With that in mind, here's a list of other things that people could convert abandoned prisons into, based on stuff that prisoners do anyway:

  1. Library
  2. Tattoo parlor
  3. Really bad restaurant
  4. Egg-eating competition arena
  5. Hostel
