This 'Floating' Mountain Retreat Is a Cozy, Scenic Getaway in Wales

Fantastic light and views

With one wing buried under a hill and one wing hovering over a river, the award-winning Ty Hedfan house in the mountains of Wales is an unusually spectacular retreat in nature. Designed by Sarah Featherstone and Jeremy Young of London firm Featherstone Young as their own weekend getaway, the 2,400-square-foot house built of wood, stone, and glass was positioned for optimal light and views. And based on these new photos from a recent AD España feature, it truly seems the trees are so close you can touch them from the inside. Details on the furnishings, including a modular sofa from Muji and Tom Dixon lamps, are here. The house can also be rented for short-term stays.
