This conceptual design from South Korean architects Soomin Kim and Seo-Hyun Oh would take existing buildings, such as, say, New York City's Empire State Building, and surround them with enormous shells that look like what Independence Day-type aliens would use to designate which buildings they should not destroy because they want to take them on their spaceship as a souvenir. The actual purpose of the shell would be to "interface between nature and [an] energy purifying system," "capture solar energy and harvest rainwater," and grow plants using that eco-energy, which also sounds nice.
