Fresh Modern House in Seattle Combines Boxy, Gabled Styles

New, 1 comment

The result is one easy breezy beautiful home

A modern box meets a modern gable in this new Seattle home, the two distinct forms melding into one through a unifying cedar facade and large rectangular windows. Completed by Heliotrope Architects for an engineer and artist couple, the 3,953-square-foot house uses its varying volumes to accommodate for the residents' different needs. The double-height gabled space, cantilevered over the garage, serves as an airy artist studio. Meanwhile, the main living and dining spaces with floor-to-ceiling windows, wall-to-wall shelving, and colorful chairs from the Ligne Roset Ottoman series, create a functional and whimsical common area all at once.
