The pioneering Iraqi-British architect passed away in Miami earlier this morning

Tragic breaking news: As first reported by BBC earlier today, Zaha Hadid, the trailblazing Iraqi-British architect, has died at 65.

Zaha Hadid Architects confirmed the news, and has issued a statement (you can read in full here):

It is with great sadness that Zaha Hadid Architects have confirmed that Dame Zaha Hadid, DBE died suddenly in Miami in the early hours of this morning. She had contracted bronchitis earlier this week and suffered a sudden heart attack while being treated in hospital.
