World's Highest Ski Resort to be Built in Tibet

The ski area will likely top 14,800 feet

The Telegraph is reporting that China will build the world's highest ski resort near Lhasa, the capital of Tibet. The new ski area is part of China's latest Five Year Plan and there are no details as to the facilities or timeline of the new resort.

Although the city of Lhasa sits at 11,450 feet, most of Tibet's mountains are well above 14,000 feet. Currently the highest ski resort in the world is China's Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, which sits at 14,816 feet in elevation. This new ski area in Tibet is expected to topple that record.
