This ancient Moorish castle in El Castillo de Matrera, Spain was restored last week...in a manner of speaking. Actually, whoever was in charge of the restoration just built some big concrete walls and fixed parts of the old stone walls to them. At first glance, this does not seem like an okay thing to do to a castle. But then again, what if the castle was in danger of crumbling, and this was simply a way of framing the remains, as one might a piece of artwork? Is it okay then? Giving the restoration architect the benefit of the doubt and assuming that that was his intention (which it actually doesn't sound like it was) would that be an acceptable thing to do? You decide:
