The vision of the future that designers seem to be increasingly latching onto is a future where we can control everything with out smartphones—from the air conditioning, to our locks, to our kitchen herb gardens, to, now, a sofa. Italian architect Carlo Ratti has created this modular seating system called Lift-Bit, which can not be arranged into almost any configuration, but can be done so via phone commands, or by hovering a hand over one of the modules like some kind of wizard.
