If you've ever looked out the window of an airplane and thought, Hey, I wonder what that is down there, that's called a runway. But if you've ever had the same thought after the plane has taken off, there's now an app for that. Developed with a grant from the National Science Foundation, the app, called Flyover Country, can pinpoint your exact location using the phone's GPS and other factors (technical term: phone magic) and it can used a cached store of articles, maps, and data to provide relevant geological details about whatever it is you're flying over.
