'The Wire' Actor Far More Optimistic About Baltimore Than His Character Was

Wendell Pierce is investing in a housing complex for artists

Actor Wendell Pierce, who played Detective Bunk Moreland in The Wire, has announced that he is investing in a $20 million apartment complex project in Baltimore's arts district, making him about one hundred times more optimistic about the future of Baltimore than the character he portrayed. A portion of the building's apartments will be available to artists at a reduced rate, and the project is also part of a jobs program that Pierce says he hopes to expand "into the row houses too." We like to think that Bunk would approve, although he would also probably shake his head slowly at the futility of it all while chewing on a cigar.
