In London, where the real estate Hunger Games playing out across the city is fiercer than even in New York or San Francisco, additional square footage is a precious commodity. So this extension to a redbrick home in the English capital's northern Belsize Park neighborhood, by local firm Forrester Architects, is a real win for its homeowners.

When the clients felt they'd outgrown their kitchen, they commissioned the folks at Forrester to design an annex for their home and improve the connection between their home and its backyard. The result is a brick-and-timber annex that accommodates a new, spacious cooking and eat-in dining area and that steps down to the rear garden.

It's just the latest in a series of gorgeous extensions we've covered on these pages: Last year, we wrote about Australian homes with excellent additions and, more recently, we fawned over this soaring angular annex also Down Under. Take a look.
