An Illustrated Guide to Jane Jacobs

In partnership with MAS and PPS, artist James Gulliver Hancock presents Jane Jacobs’s major principles in illustrated form

In The Death and Life of Great American Cities and her subsequent work, Jane Jacobs laid out some key principles for a successful city. In honor of Jane Jacobs's 100th birthday, artist James Gulliver Hancock has created an illustration of Jacobs's principles, commissioned by Curbed, the Municipal Art Society, and the Project for Public Spaces. Take a look below, and then head to the Curbed NY Facebook page for the chance to win a poster featuring the illustration.
