Amityville Horror house on Long Island goes on the market for $850K

New, 2 comments

The house was the site of an infamous sextuple murder in 1974

If you want to own a house than inspired a famous movie, great news: this five-bedroom Dutch Colonial in Amityville, New York is on the market for $850,000. Also, by the way, the movie that it inspired is The Amityville Horror, because in 1974 a man murdered his parents and four siblings there and his lawyers said the house made him do it. Enjoy! The brokers are quick to point out that "There've been four owners since the murders, and none of them ran out of the house screaming, and there were no strange experiences [such as murder.]" Regardless, the notoriety doesn’t seem to be helping the house’s value—it was listed in 2010 for $1.15 million.
