Much like the Australian modern homes we love, this polished abode in Aspen, Colorado has a breezy surprise in the back. With walls of pocket doors, the rear living room seems to expand in size when opened up to the yard. But this house is about way more than looks.
Designed by architect couple Sarah Broughton and John Rowland for themselves, the home comes LEED Gold certified, attained by deliberate measures like turning the bocce ball court into a storm-water filtration system and powering a majority of the house’s energy needs with solar panels. And then there’s the home tech. With the Savant home automation system in place, they can use an app to identify energy hogs, not to mention stream music wirelessly and assign guest entry codes for the home’s keyless door locks.
