Incredible David Adjaye-designed Montauk retreat now $4.5M cheaper

Yours for a cool $25,000,000

This incredible David Adjaye-designed retreat in Montauk is still on the market—but is now offered for $25,000,000 after a recent $4,500,000 price cut. Currently owned by art collector and dealer extraordinaire Adam Lindemann, the six bedroom, eight-and-a-half bathroom estate sits on over three acres of prime oceanfront land offering stunning views from every room.

Though the 7,500-square-foot manse features a traditional Shingle style structure, the interior is pure contemporary design, with gorgeous wood lining not only the floors but the walls and ceilings as well. The stunning woodwork is most prominent in the expansive great room, where a double-sided concrete fireplace divides the living and dining areas, and a wall of French doors opens onto the scenic bluffs beyond.

The second-story master suite includes a custom Adjaye-designed platform bed and an ensuite bathroom that boasts thin vertical wooden slats on its walls. This detail is echoed in the massive covered structure on the back lawn that frames views of the ocean, and a smaller lounge that presides over the gunite pool and spa on the side of the house. The impressive sculptures in the photos—the gigantic yellow Urs Fischer bear and the poolside Franz West sculptures have unfortunately been sold, but there are opportunities to own other artwork and furniture in the home.

Other amenities include an office with secret bookcase door, family room, screening lounge, home theater, wine cellar, and much more. Though the trophy property is undeniably impressive—and has the architectural pedigree to match—it’s surprising, according to Sotheby’s broker Rylan Jacka, that it hasn’t sold yet. He hopes that the price cut will motivate prospective buyers to make room in their demanding schedules to come see the home, STAT.

Jacka also notes that the property is situated by a world class surfing point break, on a bluff that offers complete privacy and serenity, a rarity in Montauk. Its huge lawn is also one of the biggest in the tony community, lending itself to endless possibilities for entertaining. What are you waiting for? Take a look below.
