Location: Kailua, Hawaii

Price: $1,650,000

An out-of-this world geodesic dome home is on the market in Kailua, a town in Oahu, Hawaii. As the listing notes, the 1984-built home is a custom design by Buckminster Fuller, the visionary American architect and inventor who popularized this futuristic spherical form.

The four-bedroom-three-bath has been completely refurbished since then, with a new front porch and railings, a gazebo, and a custom stairwell. A new master suite makes up the top floor and even comes with its own lanai, or veranda.

But it’s the double-height main living space that is most noteworthy. Vaulted ceilings characterized by skylights, a windowed dining nook, and granite eat-in kitchen create a bright and airy atmosphere with views toward the ocean, Kailua Bay, and the Ko’olau mountains. Indeed, these views can be enjoyed from all three levels of this unique property.

Rounding out the residence are a lower-level family room with wet bar, an exercise room, two solar roof-cooling fans, and a special aluminum alloy carport. Located at 1279 Aupupu Place, it’s offered at $1.65 million.
