Lightweight Cricket camper trailer sleeps family of 4

All for a reasonable $27,800

Campers and adventure vehicles are officially having a moment: we’re seeing everything from bespoke vans to classically-shaped teardrop trailers popping up in news feeds all over the place.

But one of the companies that’s caught our eye a few times recently—TAXA Outdoors—is pushing the design envelope with a new class of modular campers. We reported on the small Tigermoth trailer a few weeks ago, and now we’re captivated by the larger Cricket, what TAXA calls their “ultimate adventure camper.”

At only 15 feet in length and weighing a mere 1450 pounds, the Cricket can be pulled by most 4-cylinder vehicles. There are other lightweight campers out there that we love—like this teardrop trailer built for stargazing—but most sleep two people max, and even that can be tight.

The Cricket, however, expands to sleep two adults and up to two children, all with integrated plumbing and electrical systems that allow you to stay off the grid for days. Swing windows with shade and mesh screens allow for ventilation and the interior boasts a pop-up table, covered sink and 6 cubbies for kitchen prep, storage, and cooking, and 12-volt lighting throughout the cabin.

TAXA’s new 2017 Cricket comes as two different models: the Cricket camp and the Cricket tent. The Cricket tent includes a custom patio awning, roof racks, fully enclosed shower tent, and a fridge and freezer to the kitchen. Both models, however, have a bunch of additional features that can be added to make your Cricket just the way you like it. Head over here, for more.
