It finally feels like spring, inspiring me to do a little spring cleaning and revamp my home goods. From rugs to outdoor furniture to accessories like this avocado slicer, this week I’m highlighting my favorite finds from three popular big-box stores.
Target
It’s patio season, so what better time for one of our go-to big-box retailers to have a patio sale? Target is holding a special sale on outdoor living until end of day tomorrow: up to 30 percent off and an extra 10 percent off select styles using code PATIO. I would not advise passing this up.
Even if you don’t have an outdoor space, there are styles fit for a beach house or sunroom—the sunroom in my family home, for example, is decorated with outdoor furniture.
Editor’s Picks:
- Knit Pouf Small Space Patio Set, $84
- Algoma Sunbrella Soft Comfort Cushion Hanging Chair, $124
- Threshold Carag 3-Piece Sling Rope Chat Set, $231 (after extra 10 percent off)
- Carlisle Rustic 3-piece Wood Patio Dining Set, $405 (after extra 10 percent off)
Bed Bath & Beyond
Some of the best home finds at Bed Bath & Beyond are included in the Designer Picks collections, which are helpful for finding great products since there’s just too much to look at. My current favorite is Real Simple’s collection, A Simply Healthy Life, where you can score smart and easy solutions to help you live better and feel happier.
All of the below picks are incredibly useful, but as someone who is not too skilled in the kitchen, perhaps the one I need most is this avocado slicer. It’s sure to prevent the “avocado hand” injury recently making headlines.
Editor’s Picks:
- OXO Good Grips 3-in-1 Avocado Slicer, $10
- Honey-Can-Do Adjustable Laundry Center, $35
- HoMedics Ellia Reflect Ultrasonic Aroma Diffuser, $80
- Real Simple Down Alternative Comforter, $80 to $130
Walmart
Walmart is not typically a retailer I think of when buying home goods, but there are fantastic (and mostly inexpensive) home-related finds for the some 100 million customers who visit Walmart each week.
Besides the cutest cookie jar to ever exist, I’m most excited about the new Novogratz rugs, which are super colorful and fun. Style tip: Use a playful rug to add some color to a neutral room (like my two picks below)!
Editor’s Picks:
- Better Homes and Gardens Woven Throw in Brown Herringbone, $12
- The Pioneer Woman Lucy Cookie Jar, $15
- 9 by Novogratz Kaleidoscope 3-Piece Bath Accessories Set, $32
- Novogratz Notch Rug, $130 to $700; Novogratz Sorbet Blue Rug, $156 to $876
