This midcentury modern cottage in Wellfleet, Massachusetts, would make a lovely holiday retreat. Built in 1958 and on the market for the first time since, the not-quite-tiny house measures 672 square feet and features three bedrooms, one bath, and plenty of period charm.

A red-painted wooden facade with white trim calls to mind that of a traditional barn, but it’s the home’s interiors that tell a different story. Sliding glass doors and other glazed expanses are in line with the era’s preoccupation with creating indoor-outdoor friendly spaces, while a pitched, wood-paneled ceiling further opens up the common areas to the surrounding landscape.

Although it appears to have been updated in parts over the years, much of the property remains in tact, including some of the wallpaper and the kitchen counters. Still, a further refresh is in order: The carpeting has to go, as do the dropped ceilings in the private quarters.

For simple Cape Cod living, look no further than 15 Hiram Hill Road, which is being offered for $369,000.
