The country of Greece and its many islands are a favorite travel destination, especially in the summer when the glint of the azure blue Aegean Sea bounces off the bright white buildings perched high on the picture-perfect coastline.
As we approach the end of summer, with just over a month to go before warmth gives way to chill, here are 10 luxurious Grecian vacation properties—from a $10 million home on the island of Skiathos to one just over $1 million in Corfu—to keep the feeling lingering. Cue wanderlust.
The quaint Mediterranean Blossom, as it’s called, presides over a semi-private beach on over two acres on the coast of Skiathos island, part of the Sporades archipelago in the northwest Aegean Sea. With seven bedrooms, nine bathrooms, numerous outdoor entertaining areas, and a pool, the 7,534-square-foot home would be the perfect family compound. It’s offered at 9.1 million euros, or approximately $10.7 million.
Meravigliosa comprises eight fabulous bedrooms, nine bathrooms, multiple living areas and outdoor spaces on an over 8,000 square-foot floorplan—all with views toward the glittering Mediterranean Sea in Mykonos. Smooth, curving walls painted white combine with stone to create a classic look that is enhanced by the natural surroundings of the two-acre-plus site. An outdoor kitchen, massive covered pool terrace, and, of course, an infinity pool round out the property, which is offered at 6.5 euros, or about $7.6 million.
Corfu Island, Ionian Sea
Located between the bays of Avlaki and Kassiop, Emerald Bay, as the villa is called, offers six bedrooms and six baths on nearly 6,000 square feet on the “exclusive” northeast coast of Corfu in the Ionian Sea. The best part? It enjoys direct frontage onto a crystal clear white pebble beach—with the option to lay out by a solar-heated pool. There’s also a guest cottage, natch. Set on 1.2 acres, it’s offered at 6.25 million euros, or about $7.3 million.
Now this compound is for serious buyers only. Though it’s not as pricey as some of our picks, it offers eight estates with private pools and gardens on the island of Tinos. That makes up a total of 27 bedrooms and 33 bathrooms—not to mention all the amenities—for a total of nearly 17,000 square feet of living space. Delorean sits on just under two acres, and is offered at 5.5 million euros, or about $6.5 million.
Here’s another showstopper on Mykonos. Boxy and bold, this 4,305-square-foot beauty on just over one waterfront acre boasts a massive pool that appears to flow right into the sparkling sea beyond. Nine beds, five baths, and numerous sitting areas both inside and out are available for 4.8 million euros, or $5.6 million.
The villa known as the Observatory sits amid a rocky site that measures approximately 2.5 acres, with views toward the sea. Comprising four houses, the property includes six bedrooms and eight bathrooms, a lovely pool and hot tub, plus modern interiors for sophisticated island living. Get it for 4.25 million euros, or just under $5 million.
Ftelia Bay, Mykonos
Situated on the bay of Ftelia in Mykonos, this enchanting stone and whitewashed home has it all: six bedrooms and five baths offering panoramic views, pergola and pool, and a pristine interior decorating scheme. The 3,600-square-foot villa sits on just under two acres and is available for 2.1 million euros ($2.47 million).
Rhodes, Dodecanese Islands
For just under two million euros, you get this 2,000-square-foot rustic home dating back to the 1600s in the village of Lindos in Rhodes, the largest of the Dodecanese islands. Three bedrooms and one bath comprise the period home with original details such as stone and millwork.
Hydra, Saronic Islands
The Saronic island of Hydra is the site of this adorable “hideaway” cottage. Perched on a hill overlooking the Aegean, the 1,872-square-foot three-bed-three-bath features a muted color palette trimmed in a dusty blue, with stone floors contrasting with white walls and beamed ceilings. Outdoor terraces “framed by vivid greens” complete this home available for 1.3 million euros ($1.5 million).
Corfu, Ionian Islands
Our final offering brings us back to Corfu, where a quaint three-bedroom named Anemelia perches on a private hillside “amid cork trees.” Framed in stone, it feels more like a countryside house, but, in fact, enjoys views toward the sea in a best-of-both-worlds situation. It’s offered at 950,000 euros, or about $1.1 million.
