Dallas architecture and design firm Wernerfield—the same team behind this tranquil lake house—has created another sunny home: the BV1 Residence, a sleek modern home comprising blocky volumes that promote indoor-outdoor living.

The structure’s design is characterized by its site, a narrow plot parallel to a busy street in the neighborhood of Bluffview. In order to incorporate the clients’ request that the home be open, sunny, and still private, Wernerfield positioned a pool and what was essentially a backyard at the front of the house, while installing a low weathered-steel wall around the property.

Facing this outdoor space is the residence’s open-plan living, kitchen, and dining area, all of which seamlessly opens onto the pool by way of full-height sliding glass doors. A roof overhang allows for a shallow covered terrace.

Another two-story volume, connected to the main living area by a glass breezeway, forms the private quarters, where the master suite and office are on the first floor, and an additional bedroom and bathroom, as well as a family room, are found upstairs. On the other end of the living area is a two-car garage on the other, while entrance is gained through a glazed foyer to the right side of the yard.

As for materials, the exterior is clad in off-white stucco, while the minimalist interiors are white with polished concrete floors and accented with wood paneling parts. To learn more, head on over to Dezeen.
