Location: Princeton, New Jersey

Price: $799,000

Although its year of origin is unknown, it’s safe to say that this home in Princeton, New Jersey, is authentically midcentury modern. The era’s “hallmarks,” as the listing notes, are many and include a low-profile, broadly sloping gable roof, open floorplan living, and floor-to-ceiling windows that usher the outdoors in.

The three-bed-two-bath residence has been sympathetically updated in parts without sacrificing period details. In the refreshed living room, sloped tongue-and-groove beamed ceilings create height, with windows framing views of the wooded half-acre site.

A black brick hearth with wood-burning stove creates a cozy corner, with a skylit dining area and an open kitchen following from there. Although the kitchen retains what appears to be original cabinetry, appliances are on the newer side. A simple update would make the kitchen sing.

Beyond the kitchen is a modern family room with glass sliders, an adjoining mudroom, powder room, and an alcove office. The bedrooms are all spacious and boast those vaulted ceilings, while the bathrooms could use a little updating. Hardwood floors make up the living areas, while carpeting is found in the bedrooms, and tiling in the bathrooms.

A brick patio accessible from the family room, and a grassy backyard round out the property located at 24 Deer Path, in the eponymous enclave, and is offered at $799,000.
