Heading to South by Southwest? Come hang with us!
This year, we’ve created our very own Curbed Lounge (supported in part by eBay) on the upper level terrace of The Belmont. We’ve worked with local Austin makers and creators to curate a creative space where you can hang out, have a drink, and check out some of the coolest products Austin has to offer. Think: modern quilts from Initial K Studio, furniture from Yucca Stuff and Clifton Craftwork, artwork from Emily Eisenhart, and unique objects from Slow North, Humble Goods, and Kimball Prints, just to name a few. Plus, snag some custom patches designed by Shock and Awww, and get your ‘gram ready for a mural by artist Will Bryant. We’ll be open from Friday, March 8, to Sunday, March 10, every day starting at 11 a.m.
And don’t miss out on the chance to hear from Curbed’s Editor-in-Chief Kelsey Keith! On Sunday, March 10, at 4:15 p.m., she’ll be hosting a conversation about economic growth and cultural identities in cities, with, of course, a focus on Austin. She’ll be joined by Natasha Harper-Madison, District 1 Council Member, and Michael Hsu, founder and principal of Michael Hsu Office of Architecture who happens to also be an Austin local himself. eBay’s Head of Global Impact and Giving Chris Librie will also be a guest on the panel.
It’s all taking place at The Belmont, which Vox Media is turning into The Deep End—its South by Southwest home for the second year in a row—from Friday, March 8, to Sunday, March 10. There, catch live podcast tapings from our friends at The Verge and Vox.com, see some bands perform, kick back at The Polygon Arcade, and grab Eater-approved grub. Attendance at The Deep End is free and open to the public. Just RSVP here.
Be sure to head over to Curbed Austin for the latest on what to expect in the city during SXSW, from street closures and public transportation to the ultimate list of places to visit (and things to do) while you’re in town.
Vox Media’s The Deep End is made possible by sponsors 3M, TCL, Aloft, eBay, KeVita, and Doha Debates.
Disclaimer: Curbed is an official 2019 South By Southwest media partner.
