You can buy almost anything on Amazon these days, and a Prime membership gets you access to deals—like the upcoming Prime Day—music, movies, and more. But perhaps the most surprising thing you can order on Amazon is houses.
From shipping container retreats to backyard sheds to geodesic domes, manufacturers are turning to Amazon to sell kit homes and easy-to-assemble structures that make DIY easy. The latest cabin to catch our eye is the Lillevilla Allwood Cabin Kit Getaway, a 292-square-foot retreat priced at $18,800.
The cabin is modest in size, featuring a downstairs with three rooms and a lofted sleeping area upstairs. The Amazon description reports that the Getaway can function as a summer house, home office, or stand-alone retail building. The kit takes two adults approximately two to three days to construct using step-by-step directions that come with the kit.
Made of durable, dense grain and slow grown Nordic Spruce wood so that no interior finishing is necessary, the cabin boasts an overhanging roof, pre-hung and glazed doors and windows, and pre-assembled gables. The kit also includes all nails, screws, and handles, but buyers will have to provide their own roof shingles and foundation materials.
If you want plumbing for a toilet, kitchen, or shower, or if you need extra insulation for cold-weather use, you’ll have to add that yourself, too.
Each unit is made to order and the company requires 60 days after ordering for delivery. This cabin is just one of many available on Amazon. Check out a few other options, below.
