There’s no shortage of impressive real estate in Palm Springs, California, and the latest house to catch our eye is this three-bedroom, three-bath stunner. Back on the market at a reduced price and designed by the iconic Donald Wexler, the home has earned the moniker “The Last Wexler” because it is the final residence that the architect had a direct hand in building before his passing in 2015.
A giant of midcentury design, Donald Wexler was 89 years old when he agreed to design one more house. Featuring exposed steel columns and vast expanses of glass, the 2,550-square-foot house is also the only steel home Wexler completed since the 1960s.
The 2015 home is located on a property that was originally part of the Frank Sinatra Twin Palms estate, oriented to take advantage of mountain views and featuring overhanging roofs to shade from the hot desert sun. The interior’s all-steel, post-and-beam construction is open and airy, marked by large panels of glass that welcome the outdoors in. The home also features polished concrete floors, natural birch elements, and stone countertops.
Despite contemporary affinities for wide open, sprawling kitchens, Wexler opted for the more traditional galley kitchen, with wood cabinetry and strip windows. The bedrooms echo the same themes as the rest of the home; the master features a large sliding glass door that opens directly onto the patio. Outside, an expansive patio, saltwater pool, and spa await.
Ready to own a piece of architectural history? 1155 East Granvia Valmonte is on the market now for $2,390,000.
