Burton Cottage was once home to the author of Goldilocks and the Three Bears

This charming cottage in the English countryside looks like it was plucked straight out of a fairy tale. Is it a coincidence then that the house was once home to the author of Goldilocks and the Three Bears? We think not.

Sitting on half an acre in Christchurch, England, Burton Cottage is a picturesque four-bedroom house, now on the market for £1 million (approximately $1.3 million). Though it’s been fully renovated, the home retains its storybook appeal thanks to a white plaster facade, cottage windows, and a hut-like thatched roof that makes it look like it could have been built by a very talented woodland creature.

Inside, the house is spacious and updated, with a remodeled kitchen and modern perks like a dual walk-in shower in the master suite. Naturally, there’s still plenty of old school enchantment peeking through, like timber beams in the ceiling and wood-burning fireplaces.
