If you're thinking of heading to the mountains for the Fourth of July, Curbed Ski has you covered with a map of the best places to watch fireworks in ski country. Just remember that fire danger in the mountains changes quickly, so although all of this information was current at the time of publishing, you should always check locally.

Whether or not a fireworks show will happen is sometimes a game time decision. It also goes without saying that personal fireworks and the high country just don't go together. Let's keep our beloved mountains fire free.

Sugarloaf: Town Park

The family-friendly activities at Sugarloaf & the town of Carrabassett Valley start in the morning and run through the day before ending with a fireworks show at 9 p.m. Among the earlier festivities are music, magic and balloon art.

Mayo Field in Stowe

Stowe's old-fashioned 4th of July celebration has activities starting at 11 a.m. before a parade at 1 p.m. Head to the Mayo Fields at 6 p.m. for fun and fireworks starting at dusk. There will also be a concert and fireworks Sunday at Stowe Mountain.

Stratton's fireworks will be Saturday rather than on July 4, but it'll be a blowout nonetheless, with the show starting at 9:15 p.m.

Taos Ski Valley

With parades at 12:00 pm in Arroyo Seco and 2:00 pm in Eagle Nest, there's plenty to do in the Taos region. But we love heading to Taos Ski Valley for a rubber duck race at 2:00 pm and music to follow. Then head down the hill for a professional fireworks show in Taos at the Salazar Road Extension, usually around 9:15 pm.

Grand Lake

If you're in the Winter Park area this holiday, fireworks will be lighting up Grand Lake around 10 p.m.

Breckenridge Riverwalk Center

Breck knows how to party for the 4th. The July 4th fireworks will start at 9:45 p.m. and shot off from the Gondola parking lot. They are visible from throughout town.

Frisco Bay Marina

After a parade at 12:30 p.m., the town of Frisco lights up the skies over Dillon Reservoir with one of the best shows in Colorado. Start time is 9:30 p.m. at Frisco Bay Marina, but you can see the fireworks from most places around the lake. Beware of traffic (especially on the dam road) when the show concludes.

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort

The second option for Jackson Hole fireworks is at the Teton Village. Like at Snow King, the show starts at 10 p.m.

Big Sky Community Park

The best fireworks show around kicks off at 10:15 p.m. in Big Sky's Town Center Park. But before the fireworks kick off, the park will open at 6 p.m. with live music starting at 7 p.m. The best part is that it's all free!

Snow King Mountain

When 10 p.m. hits in Jackson, there are two places to catch some fireworks. The first is as the base of Snow King in town. There's also the Town Square Shootout at 6 p.m. and the Jackson Hole Rodeo at 8 p.m. to catch in town beforehand.

Park City Mountain Resort

The parade starts at 11:00 a.m. on Main Street, with a host of other activities filling out the rest of the day before fireworks starting at dusk at the Park City base.

Steamboat celebrates the 4th with a parade downtown at 10:00 am, and the Pro Rodeo Series that kicks off at 6:30 pm at the Romick Arena. The fireworks show starts at 9 pm at the base of the town ski hill, Howelsen Hill.

Aspen Mountain

Aspen has a packed schedule for the 4th. The parade goes down at 11 a.m. and there's a picnic in Koch Park from noon to 3 p.m. Fireworks will light up the sky around 9:15 p.m. over Aspen Mountain. The show will be visible from almost any spot in town.
