Whether it's travel plans that have you getting into town late or you just haven't had enough turns, sometimes night skiing is the perfect way to end the day. Night skiing often means fresh corduroy from an evening groom, a new appreciation of using all your senses and often a special view of town. To highlight some of the best experiences under the stars, Curbed Ski put together a map of 14 great places to try night skiing in North America.

Alyeska Resort

Night skiing at Alyeska is every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 4 to 9 p.m. through March 26. The resort offers 375 acres of night terrain starting at 2,025 feet. Adult tickets are $40 for Thursday and Friday and $55 on Saturday.

Mt. Hood Skibowl

Skibowl boasts the largest night skiing terrain in the country, with 34 lit runs. And the nights are late at Skibowl, too; lifts will run to 10 or 11 p.m. All this for only $34 for a night ticket.

Stevens Pass Ski Area

Stevens Pass lights up a good chuck of its terrain for night skiing, and on the days the ski area is scheduled to stay open late, the lights stay on until 10 p.m. For January and February, that's Wednesday through Saturday for the most part. In March, it's Friday and Saturday the first three weekends. A day ticket lets you ski till whenever the mountain closes, and a 4 p.m. to close ticket runs $40 for adults.

Squaw Valley Ski Resort

The 3.2-mile Mountain Run is included in Squaw Valley's night skiing that runs Saturdays through January, February and March. Hours are 3 to 7 p.m. with and night-only adult ticket priced at $49 — full-day and afternoon tickets include the twilight hours.

Snow Summit Mountain Resort

Snow Summit's night skiing offers beginning and intermediate trails along with a park for late jib sessions. The dates for the remainder of the season are mostly weekends, and the hours run 3 to 8:30 p.m.

Schweitzer Mountain Resort

Schweitzer offers twilight skiing from 3 to 7 p.m. via the Basin Express quad and Musical Chairs double. The terrain park and beginner terrain are open nights Fridays and Saturdays through March 5 and some select dates. Find cheaper tickets by buying from a participating business in town.

Whitefish Mountain Resort

All ages can ski from 4 to 8:30 p.m. at Whitefish Mountain Resort for just $21. Night skiing runs Friday and Saturday through March 5 at Whitefish, and the terrain park is open nights on those days, as well.

Sundance Mountain Resort

Sundance Mountain Resort opens the majority of its front side for night skiing from 4:30 to 9 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights. The Terrain Park will also be open. It's $36 for a night-only ticket and $65 for a full day plus night ticket.

Brighton Ski Resort

Brighton has more than 200 acres, three lifts and a terrain park all lit up from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday from early December through April. Night lift tickets are $40 for adults and $25 for youth 11 to 13 years. Kids 10 and under are free.

Park City Mountain Resort, Utah, USA

Steamboat Resort

Riding up the Christie Peak Express gives you access to five trails and 1,100 vertical feet of vertical terrain for night skiing. If you fly into Yampa Valley Airport, you can redeem your ticket stub for a free night of skiing on your arrival. Night skiing runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday through Monday from now till Feb. 19 and 6 to 9 p.m. from Feb. 20 to March 28. Adult tickets are $37 at the window and $25 when purchased in advance.

Keystone Resort

Keystone offers a packed schedule of night skiing. The River Run Gondola and the Peru Express have slightly different operating nights but each will run till 8 p.m. on their designated days.

Sunday River offers night skiing from 4 to 8 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and holidays during mid-winter. Two lifts service eight trails during evening hours. While a full day ticket lets you keep on skiing till close, a night skiing only ticket is just $29 for adults.
