Welcome to Design Heat Maps, wherein travel journalist Stirling Kelso—a regular contributor to Travel + Leisure, Food & Wine, and the New York Times, among other outlets—breaks down that which an architecture and design junkie can't miss in can't-miss cities. Feel free to tack on additions in the comments and recommend Curbed's next destination by dropping us an email.
Zurich is often depicted as a staid business-oriented environment and, well, in one sense it is. It is the largest city in Switzerland and the center of that country's famous banking industry, but beneath the suit-and-tie facade there are some artsy undercurrents. Find a dozen of the city's best destinations for design-oriented travelers, all on a map, after the jump. Highlights include the famous Heidi Weber Museum (above), housed in a multi-faceted structure designed by starchitect Le Corbusier.
